History of Reiki...

Reiki is originally founded  in Japan by the man Called Mikao Usui in 1922.
In  Japanese language, “Rei” means spirit and “Ki” means energy.

Mikao Usui grew up in Buddhism family and he was training for spiritual awakening or enlightenment in temple of Mt. Kuramayama.  That time, he fasting and meditating for days and the 21st day of his training, he felt some lightning shock.
He believed that he was finally able to reach the point of awakening and excitingly got out fro the temple and ran down the mountain of Kuramayama.
But since he was running with excitement, he failed down and he injured his toe.
He covered the scare with his hands and all the sudden, it stopped bleeding and pain went away.

He was very surprised himself and that was his discovery of reiki.
Now, Usui learned that touching hand healing can be acquired by anyone but not only for Budda or Jesus Christ who are chosen by God.

Usui believed that there is a way for people to be able to use healing technic and wished that people to benefit from the healing skill.
Then he found a way to teach others to use energy healing to improve my mind and body.

He named that healing energy to “ Reiki” and in the same year, the “Usui Reiki Therapy Society” was established and taught energy healing method.

One of his student, Tadajiro Hayashi, was introduced to Hawaiian Japanese descent, Hawayo Takada. She turned Reiki to western style and spread to western countries.

Today, there are 5million people practice reiki within more than 120 countries in the world.
